the intel i7 5930K Processor or amd FX-9590 CPU the intel is a 6 core 3.50 6 core while the amd is an 8 core 4.70 ghz processor wondering which one to pick

Solution
Because the i7 5930k can be overclocked better, for once. Secondly, it's got multithreading, which means each core can do twice as much work and the actual number of cores is actually closer to 12 - 6 physical and 6 logical (digital) cores. As an i7 CPU it's also got hyper-threading, meaning that it optimises processes much better and splits the workload to all cores more efficiently. The microarchitecture is superior as well, meaning that it will overheat less and consume far less power, while also providing more performance. The i7 5930k (especially overclocked) is also the absolute best CPU on the market right now as proven by many tests and benchmarks which you can find on Google.

the power isnt the problem but I can only overclock it to 20%

20% overclock on a i7 5930K will grant an incredible performance boost. Apart from that, power is actually a problem for AMD chips, because the more power they consume - the more voltage they need - the more overheating issues and harder overclocking, as well as cooling, PSU and motherboard malfunctions can occur more often if the CPU is overheating. Also I listed a lot of other reasons why the i7 5930K is better.

I assumed that since you were asking me to say which of the two best CPUs of each budget wouldn't be a problem. My bad. Well, if you want to only do gaming, go with the i5 4690k actually. It's one of the best CPUs out there. If you think it's too weak then you can still get the i7 4790k. Much cheaper than the 5930k and will provide plenty of performance.

if the amd is faster how is the intel better? and with the graphics card downgrade I was a bit skeptical about intel

Simply put, AMD are horrible at making high end processors. If you are going for high performance and for gaming, you buy Intel. The AMD one is not faster than the Intel. If you think that because it has higher clockspeed and more cores it's faster, that's not true. There's many more factors like cache, TurboBoost, overclocking, multithreading, hyperthreading and so on which prove the Intel's superiority. The GTX 980 also isn't much better than the GTX 970. The GTX 970 is actually better in my opinion, since it is so much cheaper than the 980 while still having 90-95% of the 980's power. The GTX 970, single card, can even play games on ultra at 4k and 30 FPS. It's an incredible piece of technology.

I don't know anything about cases, either make a new forum thread to find someone who can pick a good case or pick one with good air flow yourself. By the way if you really want to do double card configuration SLI, definitely get the 970. You spend 600 dollars less for almost the same performance as a double card SLI GTX 980.
