No Speakers or Headphones are Plugged In

Audio not working in windows 7. Sound icon has a red x icon and says the message in title. I have tried installing many drivers but this problems doesn't seem to end.
The problem occured after installing nVidea GeForce 210 Graphic card and its driver. The display is working fine but audio is not working.
Currently High definition Audio Device Driver is installed
My Computer Specs:
Hp dc7800 sff
2 gb ram
1.6 gh processor
core2duo

right click on the sound icon and select playback devices. right clcik on the window and select show disconnected and show disabled devices. find speakers on the list, right click enable and right click set default.

i guess when you installed the nvidia drivers they defaulted to the hdmi sound that they can transfer over to the device connected.
