I have a 2 year old razer death adder, I've started to notice jumping around on certain angles while holding the mouse is this a mouse or mouse mat problem?

My mouse jumps all over the place when there is a hair or dust or something blocking the laser. A simple brushing of the underside of the optical transmitter fixes this in my situation.

If it is a mat problem, most laser mice can be used on almost any non reflective surface, try the mouse on your pants, or your desk without the pad and see if that helps.

But check to see if there is something blocking the optics of your mouse first!

Good luck!

Sounds like this could just be an issue of the mouse pad. Make sure there is no dust, hair, debre, or other (reflective) particles on the pad that could effect the laser.

To be honest, I haven't used a mouse pad since my mouse had balls.

I have found problems with a lot of different mouse pads causing jumping in the past, especially anything that has graphical designs on it. Personally I still use the "old-style" foam-backed mouse pads that are usually one uniform color... in my experience they are more comfortable and more reliable that a lot of "laser" mouse pads out there.

Get yourself a clean new simple foam pad if you can (although they are not so easy to buy as before, many stores don't sell them - but you can get them on ebay and similar) and try then... if you still get problems, then it is probably the mouse itself or the drivers.

I don't know if it also applies to their mice, but I had razor headphones and after about 2 years and 2 months (just out of guarantee of course) they started to malfunction. It was then that I googled the problem and found a LOT of users having identical problems and strongly criticizing the fabrication quality of Razer products.
