Hello,

I have an old HP Proliant M110 G4 server that is successfully running Windows 7 as a general desktop.

I've upgraded from the 4Mb inbuilt graphics to a 256Mb card by putting a PCI Express x 16 card in the PCI Express x 8 slot. The end of the PCI Express x 8 slot is not enclosed so the longer graphics card fits in just fine.

The only options to put a sound card in (apart from usb) are in one of the 32-bit/33-MHz 3.3V PCI bus slots or could I perhaps put a card in the second PCI Express slot which is the x 8 length but only x4?

Can anyone recommend a cheap solution that will work with windows 7?

The server is dual core with 4Gb of ram and quite snappy.

Regards,

Sue

OK -- So according to this picture --

If the card has TWO keyways then it will work in either

Look at the SoundBlaster on NewEgg -- or
Audigy_SE_Card_l_3467.jpg
To me it looks like that card is UNIVERSAL!

Hi Kanewolf,

From what I can see these are all 5v PCI cards not the 3.3v that I need. It might be easier just to go down the usb way.
