Hello everyone.

Recently I upgraded my GPU from Nvidia GT 210 to Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 2gb edition. For the first 6 months I had no issues.
I was able to play GTA IV, Watch Dogs on High to Ultra settings getting at least 30 fps.

But for the past 3 months I am having problem with the card. Games lag too much. I am not even able to play GTA IV on lowest settings.
I even set screen resolution to 800x600, but I am still not getting more than 15 fps. I was able to play Watch Dogs on High to Ultra
settings with 25-30 fps (2x AA). But now, even in Watch Dogs, I am getting max 10-15 fps (lowest setting).

So is it my Graphics card or my processor or my motherboard? I tried updating to latest driver. I even installed fresh OS. Nothing helped.

It would be great if someone could help me.

My System specs are:

CPU : Intel Core i3 520 @3.07 Ghz
Ram : 4 GB G-Skill @1333 Mhz
HDD : 1 Tb (Seagate) & 500 GB (WD Blue)
GPU : Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 2 GB edition

Thank you.

P.S. My Graphics Card is running in PCI x16 2.0 slot.

GPU TEMP: Idle 30, Load 60 (max 65)
CPU TEMP: Idle 35-40, Load 65-70

GPU USAGE: Idle 0 %, Load 45-50 %
CPU USAGE: Idle 10-15%, Load <50 % (max 60%)

Depends on what game I'm playing...

Your CPU load temperatures look on the high side to me.. Try applying some quality thermal paste or go for aftermarket cooler if you haven't done so yet.
When CPUs become hot they'll usually decrease their clock in order to stay cool.
Also, your CPU load percentage looks weird. Before I upgraded to i5-3350P I used to have an i3-3240 3.4GHz and Watch_Dogs was able to max out the 2 cores of the CPU.

Actually my CPU does max out while playing Watch Dogs, Splinter Cell Blacklist, but when I play games like AC II, AC Brotherhood, it stays at 60 %.

And about that thermal paste, I change it every 3 weeks, but I'll try and apply some good quality ones.

Or is it because my system's getting old (CPU getting weak)? Because my PC is almost 4 years old except for the GPU. And my motherboard is messed up too. RAM "channel A" doesn't work, otherwise I used to have 12 GB of ram.

So that means I have to change my motherboard? Because if I did then i'd have to change my CPU too.

My CPU came with a bundle (CPU + MB) and it's socket type is LGA 1156, which I guess is pretty out-dated nowadays.

If the lack of RAM was causing the problem then your games should run crappy on the first place and not only after 3 months of use. I don't think so.
Since your system is somewhat outdated, If you don't have the budget or don't want to upgrade your whole system I suggest searching eBay for used Core i5/i7 LGA 1156 processors.. they're pretty cheap.. I could find a Core i5-750 quad core for $50 or less. but make sure you use aftermarket cooling solution with good quality thermal paste.. they're pretty cheap..

He said he had 12Gb running, but one of the memory channels has stopped working.

He didn't mention when he's downgraded from 12GB to 4GB of RAM. He started having issues after 3 months of using the GPU, But it's not clear if the RAM slot broke also 3 month ago.

Sorry I didn't mention that earlier, but my RAM slot is broken since past 14 months. It got burnt or something leaving me with only 4GB of RAM. Unfortunately the other 8GBs got damaged too.

And as I didn't mention earlier, I played those games with 4GB RAM with no problem at all...It's just now (past 3 months) that I am having lag issues...

Does PCI x16 v2.0 limit the card's performance?
