Hey guys!

So, I'm currently in the process of designing my new PC build.

I'm going for something that can be used for content creation, gaming, recording, and use of a plethora of programs will can be very CPU/GPU heavy.

I'm stuck for choice on monitors.

I'm wanting a triple monitor setup, and I'm not a SUPER serious gamer, as such 144z refresh rates really aren't required, I'd prefer to dive into the super-high-res field, rather than spend the money on lower res, 144z monitors.

Here's my (current) PC design. http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/yxFYhM

I imagine it'll change a lot before I get to something I'm comfortable with.

But yeah, I'd be intrigued to know what exactly I'd need to push triple 4k monitors on games such as BF4, Far Cry, other FPS games etc, and whether getting triple 4k monitors would be a good idea. Maybe even going with 1 4k monitors for use with content, and 1 144hz monitor would be best for gaming?

Would love some advice, and to hear what you guys would get.

Thanks!

First you will need a better PSU for you PC. 850W isn't enought for 3-way SLI of GTX 980. You will need 1000W+
For monitorrs I would reccomend you to get 3x 1440p 144 Mhz monitors, 4K isn't really needed :)

First off, I'd recommend this...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/G-Skill-FM-PCx8G2R4-480GB-Phoenix-Blade-480GB/dp/B00P2CF7X6/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1421599173&sr=1-1&keywords=g.skill+phoenix+blade

It makes regular SSD's look like a dial-up modem.

As for the rest...
Triple 4K monitors is just not realistic right now. Cutting edge systems are barely putting out passable performance with a single 4K monitor.

As baniDJ said, I'd get a triple monitor setup with some 1440p monitors, and once you see how 144Hz performs compared to 60Hz, you probably won't want to go back.

Hi, the CPU was the only change I could make: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/pwrwpg

The I7 5930k is generally better performing than the 5960X, even if it isn't obvious at first. It also gives much better overclocking results and is twice as cheap. As to the monitors, I don't think anything right now has the power to run tri-monitors at 4K (especially at 60 FPS). I assume a 4 way CrossFire R9 295x2 would be capable of doing that, but I don't even know if that's possible (I've only heard rumours about CrossFire with more than 2 cards).

Some slight changes. As was suggested above, not sure if getting the 5960x is worth it over the 5930k. 2 more cores and 5mb more of cache....meh, up to you, but I left the 5960x in the build, just dropped to the OEM because you are already buying a cooler.

Switched motherboards, because the MSI one I linked has gotten good reviews.

I think I changed the video card to a different model because it's higher clocked out of the box, still eVga with the ACX cooler. Also £100 per card or so. Again, jumped up to a 1200w great quality PSU for the 3x video cards.

For monitors, I think a 3x setup is definitely doable. I'd wait on 4k, and instead go 1440p. This one looks promising BenQ]http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/benq-monitor-gw2765ht]BenQ GW276HT[/url]

If I was going to totally overhaul the build, I'd change to a different cooler. The 100i isn't bad, but I'd get a water cooler that comes as an AiO, but is designed to be "opened" up, meaning you can add a new radiator, pump, etc. without hacking the product. It's designed for it in fact. Something along the lines of kits offered from Xs-pc or Swiftech.

Thanks! Might go with the Asus ROG Swift, looks like a super awesome monitor, if not a bit more expensive (http://www.asus.com/uk/Monitors/ROG_SWIFT_PG278Q/)

I'm going to leave the 5960x in there just for the fact it's like 'WOW I HAVE SO MUCH POWER!'

Wow, I've never seen those SSDs before, those speeds are INSANE. Just need to check if the motherboard has enough PCIE slots for them, a little bit more expensive, but I never expected something that could crush the Samsung 850 pro's haha.

Just to make sure, you know that the 5960X is slower than the 5930K, right? it might appear superior from that specifications, but benchmark wise and performance wise, the 5930K beats it, plus it has better overclocking, while being two times cheaper.

Oh yeah, the ASUS ROG Swift is definitely a great monitor! The 5930K would be a lot better though.
