Hello,
I'm planning on building a brand new pc for gaming within the time frame of a month and my budget is $1850 at the maximum. I don't mind rebates, but if they are avoidable then I would like to avoid them. This is mainly going to be for gaming, with just some schoolwork and audio editing on the side. I already have a monitor that runs at 1080p. I won't be re-using any old parts and I do need to buy the OS. I don't have any preferred websites specifically, as long as most of the parts come from relatively the same place (places like Newegg, NCIX, B&H are nice if I have to pick somewhere). I live in the U.S. and I don't have any brand preferences. I do plan on overclocking and as you can see with what I've already made, I do plan on doing SLI. Could you please look at my build, below, and revise it and make sure its the best it can be.

TL;DR - I want a PC for a max of $1850 to play games on with the best performance possible so could you help revise the build I've made (below).

Here is the build:

1440p. A single gtx 970 can run things at that res too. Even 2 gtx 980s struggle at 4k, however. 4k gaming is overrated and not viable right now. You'd be spending a ton more of money plus 600 bucks on a monitor and then when a new gen of games came out, you wouldn't be able to play them at 4k with acceptable resolutions.
You might not really care about the noise now, I thought the same. But when you are working or something like that, it can be very annoying. For that little temps difference, about twice the noise should be considered.

on the contrary EVGA power supplys are very nice, they are well made, and I have had nothing but success using them, I have used at least six so far in builds for customers and my self. In fact, that power supply suggested, is the one I am using right now, it is very well built.

Bloody expensive for what it offers. At 1080p there's absolutely no need for dual gtx 970 and an i7 4790k. for those 2 cards I would not get a 650w psu either. With that mobo you would need a bios flash, btw.
i5 4690k and gtx 970 max out 1080p gaming atm. In a year or two simply add another gtx 970. This i5 overclocked is better than the i7 overclocked in gaming. There's also no benefit in going with more than 8gb of ram.
It's a great build, don't get me wrong, it's simply unnecessary and overpriced. I would get this (maybe with the 2tb hdd if you need it).

That build looks ok but there are a couple of things I'm questioning about it.

1) Why change the RAM when its the exact same price as the other RAM I was using?
2) Why did you upgrade the PSU to higher wattage when this new build has even less power consumption than the one i made?
3) Is that CPU cooler better than the H100i for the $10 I save buying it?
4) Why the change in case, that one is more expensive and I thought my case was fine?
5) Why did you change the storage as well, because I didn't see anything wrong with it?

I'm not criticizing necessarily, I'm really just curious why you made these changes.

That doesn't really answer my questions though.

I didn't see the questions when I answered robert lol.
1) Why change the RAM when its the exact same price as the other RAM I was using?
Lower CL, faster response time with sacrifice of speed, which DOES NOT affect gaming AT ALL.
2) Why did you upgrade the PSU to higher wattage when this new build has even less power consumption than the one i made?
Upgradeability and nvidia recommends 750w minimum. 650w should do it but it's just to be sure.
3) Is that CPU cooler better than the H100i for the $10 I save buying it?
Similar temps (both overkill really) but way quieter.
4) Why the change in case, that one is more expensive and I thought my case was fine?
Noise dampening matterial, more cooling options.
5) Why did you change the storage as well, because I didn't see anything wrong with it?
Nothing wrong with IT, something wrong with the price of IT. Way too expensive for almost the same performance as the one I suggested. You will not even notice the difference in speed.

Those seem like pretty legitimate points, though personally I don't really care about the noise of my machine. What sort of gaming do you think the build I originally posted would be better suited for, 1440p or 4k?
