Ok. So i just recently purchased a raspberry pi and a 5v power supply and micro SD card. Upon attempting to install NOOBS, and running it on my pi, I ended up with a solid red and solid green LED and no signal on the TV. I then searched online a bit to discover the issue and i noticed a lot of websites said to check for files like "start.elf" and when i checked my image, i didnt have that and a few others. I was wondering if anyone with a functional raspbery pi could drop a link or something to a fully functional copy of NOOBS or raspbian or has any other solutions. Thank you for your help. (Sorry if this is in the wrong category)

Hi

Get your Linux from official PI web site
http://www.raspberrypi.org

Since you have a micro SD card you have the latest model B+
My B used SD card

Download latest Rasbian I mage when it arrives check checksum for download, if a zip file then Usually no error on unzipping provides sufficient check of download

Use correct software to install image on micro SD card

There will be two partition the visible one is fat, the next is a Linux format partition which you can't read contents from without special drivers or booting from a Linux live cd

Assuming your monitor supports hdmi you probably don't need to edit the configuration file config.txt

I have a hdmi to VGA converter box so I had to configure the config file to work at 1024...

You may need to configure config.txt if using a TV screen instead of a computer LCD screen

Try again , if that does not work try a good quality branded 8 or 16 GB micro SD card from a recognised supplier

I have just seen noobs install procedure is different from Rasbian
This is the one I use for Rasbian image

http://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/installation/installing-images/windows.md

This is one for noobs

Thank you for the suggestions they are appreciated! The thing is that i did download the version of NOOBS from that very site. What software do I need to install the image onto an SD? I was previuosly just extracting the zip file to the SD.
