Which i5 model should i pick, considering my build?

I own all of the following components, but i haven't decided upon the CPU model yet.

main: GA-B85M-D2V
gpu: Sapphire R9 280
psu: Zalman ZM700-LX 700W
ram: G-Skill 8GB 1600MHz CL7
ssd: Samsung 850 Pro 128GB

CPU: 4460, 4590 or 4690K.

The choice is complicated for me, because of the following reasons:

- i'm not planning to overclock anything in the near future, so the unlocked cpu's don't really benefit me alot
- the price difference is noticeable, but ignorable
- the performance difference is very well matched to the price difference, thus making the choice significantly harder

What i know so far:
- the 4460 has 3.2GHz, adding up to 200MHz in load, to a max of 3.4GHz
- the 4590 has 3.3GHz, adding up to 300MHz in load, to a max of 3.7GHz
- the 4690K has 3.5GHz, adding up to 400MHz in load, to a max of 3.9GHz (and it's the most future-proofed because it's overclockable)

My question is... is my GPU strong enough to be bottlenecked by the 4460 at any time?

Here's my exact card: http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&pid=2194&lid=1

I'm not planning to ever overclock it (except using the EZBoost button for +100 MHz, which i will), and i'm not sure if i would get bottlenecked by the 4460 in games like BF4 or DA3 or supper-modded bethesda games...

A noticeable difference between the 3 cpu's is the added turbo frequencies. One boosts itself by 200MHz, one by 300 and one by 400.

I could afford any of the three, but regarding my current build, is there any reason to spend the extra cash on the 4690K except the overclocking ability?

Thanks!

Solution

I know people will tell you "Oh get the 4690K it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better"

It really isnt unless it is overclocked. Best of luck!

I don't want to be playing games where i see my GPU usage at 70% and my CPU at 100%, that's my main concern. I hate bottlenecks and i'm aiming for a system in which every component delivers the same performance as the others.

All CPUs go to 100%...

They are meant to and just because it is at 100% doesn't mean it is thermal throttling or bottlenecking.

If it's running at full speed, at max capacity, that means it can't go faster. If my GPU is at 70% load, it means it could go faster, if other parts would allow it. Isn't that what bottleneck means?

Sorry if i'm wrong, i'm just throwing my logic over here. I have plenty of opinions, i need some expert advice :)

Well I'll check again but im pretty sure my GTX 770 and 4690K both run at 100% when gaming.

Ok with Black Ops 2, I am it around 80% CPU and 100% GPU

Borderlands Pre-Sequel CPU 100% CPU 50% GPU.

Obviously, I don't have a bottlenecking system which means that the usage differs from each game which may require more CPU or GPU. the 4460 will not bottleneck at all.
