Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UDRH + G3258 getting to bios problem

Hi to all.

I have the above combination, the mobo has the F7 firmware, and I need to get it to F9 so that it sees the G3258. I have no other 1150 CPU at the moment.

The mobo has a defective PCI Express x16 slot(PCIEX16), the one that is closer to the processor

I thought I could give it a try and see if the mobo could get to the BIOS, with or without the G3258, so that I could use Qflash. Neither way worked. Tried it with a RAM dim installed, tried it with 2 DIMMS, tried it without RAM. I don't even get the GIGABYTE logo. Is it supposed to be that way? Not seeing anything on the screen? I thought not getting to the BIOS was a potential outcome, but I expected to at least see something on the screen. Is that expected?

Is there any chance the defective slot causing the onboard vga not to work? Maybe the mobo thinks that there is a GPU connected because of the defective slot? Or am I talking nonsense?

Thank you in advance

the onboard graphics wont work because that cpu is preventing it from even posting.

you need to put in a cpu that is can post with, then update the bios.

as said above though, if the pci e was removed, thats unusual.. so i wouldnt spend any extra money, id try finding someone you know local with a cpu to update your bios.

It is possible that the mobo is actually not working. I got it used from a seller with more than enough positive feedback. I was aware of the pci problem before getting it. However, it has to be in F9 to work with my G3258, and until I find a compatible cpu to flash the mobo, I am trying to find if not even seeing the gigabyte logo is expected...

Yes, not seeing the gigabyte logo is to be expected.

Assuming the bios doesn't support the g3258.

If the motherboard works, then the onboard video will likely work.

Just gotta get your hands on a previous gen Intel cpu for that socket.

Before buying it, did you know the BIOS version didn't support the G3258? If so, why didn't you ask the seller to flash it before shipping it?
