Yes anyone can do it with the right tools, but on a low/mid range card like this it's not even that important imo - but if your card ever runs out of VRAM you'll notice it right away because your framerate will drop significantly. Get the 2gb

No, ram and VRAM are not the same thing.
In fact, often when people upgrade their GPU they soon find they need to upgrade their ram too! (higher resolution and settings = more ram usage)
