Hi friends,
SHORT : Intel's faster dual core with HT or AMD's equal or faster quad / hexa /octa core for rendering(keyshot-CPU based,maxwell-cpu/gpu), 3D modeling(Solidworks,Sketchup), Photo editing(24MP+ images using Photoshop) & heavy web browsing (10+ tabs in 2/3 windows in chrome) & yes I'm also a human & I do play games buy very very rare.
My Budget is $810 +- $90. Any CPU alteast equals my 1st gen intel i7 720QM which fits my usage. No plan for overlclocking.
Currently I'm using Dell studio XPS 1645 laptop with the following config.
Intel i7 720QM / 8GB RAM / 1GB ATI 4670M in Windows 8.1 Pro
Recently my laptop's GPU stopped working (bluescreen error) & I did a reballing 6 months back & it was working fine untill last week. I again got the same problem & I again did reballing, but based on the time he took to repair, I think its a reflow & based on the below source it will last for 3+ months
(source details : http://www.xcubicle.com/blog/rework-analysis-reflow-vs-reballing-repair-techniques-ps3-and-xbox-360-consoles)
& the strange thing : the gpu failed two times under low loads only !
So, now my laptop's reliability index = 0.
So its clear, its time to go for a new PC/laptop.
But I don't want to buy/build an high end system immediately, because I want to wait for Intel's 5th/6th gen i7, cheaper DDR4 rams, Windows 10 - all this are expected soon this year end/2016.
So right now I'm planning to built an low budget system as a temporary backup system which I'm planning to use for: heavy browsing as usual, planning to learn c,java,etc... , occasional 3D modeling in solidworks, rendering in keyshot, editing in photoshop.
My Budget is $810 = Rs.50,000/- INR

Shortlisted CPU's:
AMD Athlon 5350 Kabini Quad-Core 2.05 GHz Processor
Intel Pentium Anniversary Edition G3258 3.20 GHz Processor
Intel Core i3-4150
AMD FX 6300 - no inbuilt graphics
AMD 4 GHz APU A10-7850K (expensive), not sure about it
Since all the forum threads are flooded with gaming only in mind. I'm not able to deicde on the CPU. Please help me to decide a good CPU, atleast something equals my 1st gen intel i7 720QM which fits my usage. No plan for overlclocking as of now.
I have no plan for upgrading CPU alone in the future for this built. because anyway I'll be buying/building a high end system next year. Then I'll give this system to my parents(web browsing & checking emails) / use it as a seconday system.
