Is this desk okay or will the PC overheat?

Solution
I don't think that shelf will weaken the desk at all. Those mid-shelves usually aren't too structural. You could always screw in a few 'L' shaped corner brackets at the top insides of that computer area if you needed more strength.

That second desk looks a lot more ventilation-friendly for sure.
What are the specs for the new PC? It will definitely be a problem operating the computer unless it is extremely low power with the door shut. With the door open, you may run into heat buildup if there are some high performance / high heat producing parts.

One trick I've seen used on desks like this is to cut an opening for a fan or two at the top back of the computer cubby and install one or more fans which are wired to the pc.

I see, well the pc will have:
-I7 4790K
-GTX970 (Probably msi)
-16gb ram
-HDD and SSD
-Z97

however, there's this desk: https://www.piranhafurniture.com/resize/?img=/upload/ecomproduct/tetra-graphite-black/25-09-14_11-20-54_pc5g_v2a_trim_2kpx.jpg&w=1200&h=900

but im not sure if by removing the small shelf where the PC is will weaken the desk (As it's only 43cm high with the shelf, and 53 without).

Great idea! Thank you so much! And regarding my build, I've heard that the gtx970 has problems where it does low fps in games that should be ran at 100+fps, is that a common problem? Which 970 would you recommend me? Thank you! :)

Yeah with the PC case shelf being fully enclosed would maybe not be the best idea for ventilation or ease of access for that matter. The second desk looks better option for sure.

You're welcome! I've read some things about low 970 performance, but it doesn't sound very common at all. I've been going with a lot of Asus, Zotac and MSI cards for builds lately and haven't had any issues.

Are you looking to overclock the 970? They all run at such low temperatures, it comes down to if you want to go with a less expensive model and tune it yourself (if desired) or go with one that is factory-overclocked for some extra out-of-the-box performance.

I've never overclocked, so I think i will buy an already overclocked one. Maybe the msi or asus, can't decide!
