Hi everyone, I feel like I messed up big time. Last night I was updating my custom build PC and the last thing I had to update was the motherboard bios. (I have the msi z97-G45 gaming board) so I decided to update the motherboard bios (flashed it) and I heard stuff about this being harmful and dangerous to the PC but I have done it like two or three times in the past with on issues so I thought they were a fluke. Anyways, about half way through it I realized I screwed up, 1. Because I did it through windows. And 2. A blue screen appeared and the only thing I remember it saying on it was "error" and "copying memory to physical drive" and it said something like it will reset when it is done. When it finished it turned off when I booted back up, no video picture ever re appeared. I let it do its thing for about a half hour where there was no picture and it would simply power down and try to reboot but no picture showed up.. it restarted on its own and whenever it powered down and tried to power back up my speakers remained on the entire time and when it powered on again they made a popping sound. I don't know what to do at this point and any help will be greatly appreciated. My buddy told me I could put a bios revision on a flash drive and put it in the specific USB port and click on a USB bios button and it should be good.. however I don't exactly know how to do that I Couldn't find any videos or info. What do I have to do? Is it fixable? Or do I have to buy a whole new motherboard because the bios is corrupted? Any help is greatly appreciated and let me know if there is any more information you need.. thanks

no way to tell until you actually try. i've seen cases where it worked, and others where it didn't. but worse case you can take it to a repair shop and they will unplug the bios, write it and plug it back in at a fraction of the cost to buy a new motherboard.

Alright.. I'm a tad confused. Is there a specific process to extracting it to the root directory of the flash drive? And is a FAT32 drive a specific type of flash drive? Or am I just overthinking everything?

I followed the instructions from msi's website, I unplugged my hard drives and disc drives, plugged the USB into the USB 2.0 on the rear panel, but still no picture is appearing.. and its already trying to reset and power back on

fat32 refers to the how to format the usb stick. any one would do for this. just save the data you have on it, right click and format it (use fat32 in the filesystem options if it's not already preselected - ntsf, exfat are other options)

after you format it, unpack the file inside the archive and only that on the usb stick.

if everything is done right, and if the bios is still alive you should get those options described on the msi site. if you don't it means the bios can't be recovered easily, you'll have to take it to a repair shop.

try also to reset the bios (look in the motherboard manual on how to do that, should be a switch or jumper for it)
