cannot install 'call of duty' and 'prototype' on window 8

Install the game. Open the game executable (EXE) file, the one you click on to launch the game. Rightclick on it, select properties. Open the "compatibility" tab, check the "run this program in compatibility mode for.." box, select the version of Windows with which the game worked.

done changing the compatibility but still doesn't work . the same notification for call of duty still appear, 'directX error' what was that ? while for the prototype it suddenly stopped working at every time i try to launch it .

Press Windows key and the R key together,
RUN dialogue box will appear.
Type "DXDIAG" and press enter in RUN.
This command will check if DirectX is working ok.
In the "Display" tab, check if all the DirectX features are turned on.
If they are on and the tool says no problems are found, then uninstall the game, restart the computer, and reinstall the game. If the game requires a version of DirectX other than the one you have, it should give you the option to install it's own DirectX, make sure you let the game install it's DirectX.
