I have been having trouble with my laptop for sometime now.

I first continually tapped F8 at the splash screen to boot into safe mode, to no avail. Then I used an ISO on a bootable USB drive. This is the latest sign of progress. When the computer starts, it loads files and takes me to select language and all that. Next, it shows the screen where you choose the operating system to repair and repair it. The only problem is that for no operating system appears.

I then chose to click next and use startup repair, although the computer just shuts off after a while of waiting for that. After that I tried system restore, but I have no points to restore to. Finally I tried the command prompt. This option has gotten me farther than the rest. I used the bootrec and bcdedit commands only to get to a screen where, "Total Identified Windows Installation: 0," appears. All out of ideas, I went online on a different computer to look for solutions, but I came up empty handed. With that I tried booting up the computer without the USB, but that only gives me a black screen with a blinking underscore.

Please Help, and All Help Will Be Appreciated!

I went into the BIOS and my hard drive is listed.

Have you changed by any chance in BIOS the SATA settings, from AHCI to IDE or viceversa? Or changed the boot mode from UEFI to Legacy or viceversa? If you did, restore the original setting.

If you didn't make such changes, try to enter the Factory Recovery mode (if your laptop came with a factory preinstalled OS) and follow the instructions (consult the laptop' user manual to find out how to access the Recovery menu).

As an update, I managed to get the operating system to appear as recovered. But now the problem is that in startup repair it says," The root cause is that the boot status indicates that the OS has booted successfully."
