Hi,

I currently have an i3-2100 that I'm looking to upgrade to a i5-3570k. When I installed the 3570k I would get no post. I did some research and found out that I needed to update my bios version for it to work. I'm not that great with computers as my cousin built me this computer. I'm confused and quite nervous to update my bios as I don't want to ruin anything.

Someone else told me that my BIOS can be updated through windows instead of having to use a USB device. Would that be recommended to make it easier? What's the best and easiest way of updating my BIOS? I'm really confused.

Thanks in advanced

Updating the BIOS always comes with a risk of bricking the BIOS due to an unsuccessful flash. The best case scenario would be to do it by installing from a USB while in the BIOS, but I think you'll be fine using Live Update. You just have to ensure you have stable electricity in your home and a stable internet connection.
