Hi, I'm building my first computer and was wondering if someone with a little bit more of knowledge could review my build.

Here is my part list.

Approximate Purchase Date: Within the next month or so

Budget Range: $800 - $1400

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Internet Usage/Downloading, Gaming, Movie Watching

Are you buying a monitor: Yes - But it might be something I purchase a few weeks later.

Do you need to buy OS: Yes (Windows 8.1)

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: The cheapest and the most reliable.

Location: City, State/Region, Country - Southeast Kansas. Don't think there is really a big computer parts store nearby. Most of my purchases will be online.

Parts Preferences: Some things I don't care either way with SSD/HDD, RAM, Optical Drive, Monitor, and Keyboard/Mouse.

Overclocking: Not right now, but do I have room to do this later?

SLI or Crossfire: Not right now, but do I have room to do this later?

Your Monitor Resolution: No preference. Something that looks good and is cheap. The monitor on my list seemed fine, but any advice is appreciated.

Additional Comments:

I got a cheapo optical drive just for me to load my current games onto. I was planning on buying a higher quality one later, unless you think the one I picked will do me fine?

I know the case is probably overkill. I'm buying this now to hopefully be able to use this in future builds. Thoughts?

I also plan to upgrade my RAM in the future, but I feel 8gb will be fine for right now.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Need a computer and one that can run demanding games without sacrificing gameplay or graphics.

If I have under or over selected parts or if there is some glaring incompatibility mistake I made, please let me know! I've tried to do a lot of research on everything and I think I've found the mixture of things I want.

Thank you!

I would go for an Asus Z97-A motherboard, keep costs down closer to your budget. Check out some EVGA PSU's (they are known for good quality). You could also save money going for a different case, but thats personal preference. A cheap optical drive will be fine, as for overclocking yes you will be able to but as of now there is not need to overclock a 4790k as the 4ghz stock and 4.4 turbo is plenty fast. 8GB of ram also fine for now, as is all you'll need for gaming at the moment
