seeking Video Capture and software with embedded webcam overlay

Hello Community!

I am seeking advises on which video capture devices and software should i get. I was looking into avermedia but my friend suggested that i get elgato. beside from that does anyone know a good softwares to use while I am saving my money up for a device.

I am seeking for for pc and consoles.

I love to use OBS, or Open Broadcast Software. It is open-source (free) and can handle streaming as well as high quality local recording for upload to YouTube. What's great about it is the setup of Scenes. You can lay out what will be recorded just how you like: cam, high-res images, static text, scrolling text (for a now-playing display) or almost anything you can think of.

Check out some YouTube videos on getting it set up as it can be somewhat confusing, but honestly once you get a feel for it, it's very powerful for the price you don't have to pay.

Also, some sites will even provide you with some layouts for scenes if you aren't too savvy with images/design.

I've used it both for college video projects and streaming on Twitch. Check it out!

I should add that it will work with console recorders, but when you're recording for PC, you really don't need a card. OBS is very light weight. You can hardly notice it's running when you're capturing/streaming. Don't both getting a capture card for PC.
