Greetings everyone,

I am looking for a reliable X99 motherboard. Which one do you guys recommend? I've done many research about it but I would like to see other peoples perspective about it.

Thanks in advance.

It's also fair to note that, even as seen here at Tom's, a lot of those negative reviews have been related to hardware support, or lack thereof, which in most cases has been resolved by firmware updates. I can't speak for all the problems out there, but most of what I've seen has been related to platform maturity.

It also seems most if not all X99 boards have had issues with RAM clock speed. I think the majority of those issues have been resolved since release as well but honestly it's impossible for me to say I know that as fact since clearly I've not worked with them all nor encountered every issue. I have had issues with M.2 on two ASUS boards but after the first BIOS update the issues for those builds disappeared.
The X99 platform boards are ALL high end boards, and as such, are ALL likely to be reliable. I'd base my selection on features and price.

Personally, I'd stick to ASUS and Gigabyte offerings, but MSI and ASRock are both making good boards for that platform too.

I been looking myself of late and as usual, I started looking 1st at Asus and was surprised at the jump in negative reviews from X79 to X99...... here's the number of negative reviews (1 or 2 eggs) on newegg for various choices

Asus X79 Deluxe => Asus X99 Deluxe negative reviews up 22.5%

X79 Deluxe - 31%
X99 Deluxe - 38%

Asus X79 Rampage => Asus X99 Rampage negative reviews up 50.0%

X79 Rampage IV - 24%
X99 Rampage V - 36%

Asus X79 WS => Asus X99 WS negative reviews up 78.3%

X79 WS - 23%
X99 WS - 41%

And other vendors .....

X99 MSI X99S XPOWER AC - 36%

X99 MSI X99S MPOWER - 20%

X99 MSI X99S SLI Plus - 18%

X99 GIGABYTE GA-X99-SOC FORCE - 44%

X99 GIGABYTE GA-X99-UD4 - 31%

X99 GIGABYTE GA-X99-UD5 WIFI - 45%

Only 2 boards were 20% or under

If ya read the reviews....while with X79 , I walked away with the impression that most of the problems were initial build related, with X99 users are reporting more failures after the fact...... 40%+ negative reviews is a bit scary when with X79 it was mostly in the 20's, especially when the more expensive they are, the more negative reviews they seem to be garnering.

I've never had a modern ASUS board go wrong on me and would recommend them myself. I have used X79 and X99 Rampage and Sabertooth boards and they are built to a high standard and have never failed me. It pays motherboard manufacturers to make their boards reliable because of the considerable cost to them of warranty claims, so I wouldn't worry about reliability too much with ASUS, Gigabyte, ASROCK and to a lesser extent msi (though I've just bought an msi X99a Sli Krait board with a 3 year warranty myself as a backup board, so I trust msi and their warranty claim procedures too).

Sadly, I disagree with you - from my own experience and that of others.
On my own, I assembled a monster of a PC using i7-6850k CPU and Asus ROG Strix X99 Gaming motherboard - thinking like you that Asus as a brand would not have any issues with their premium/gaming boards.
I was sorely mistaken. Not only did the board die within less than a month, it took my CPU with it. I had to RMA the CPU, and after talking to asus, they also RMA'd my board on the spot (instead of sending it to taiwan to be repaired). However, the saga did not end there, and after a 10 day vacation recently, I've came back to encounter other issues which turned out to point to faulty RAM slots (not the RAM itself, but the slots on the brand new replaced motherboard).
I have also went on newegg and checked people's reviews about Asus X99 based motherboards - it seems that many of them share the same issues!
So, better steer clear and try Asrock or Gigabyte instead. Even MSI got issues with their x99 gaming boards.
