Im going to be buying a new pc, and I need recommendations on motherboards and processors, because I know nothing about them. Im going to overclock it, and it will most likely be watercooled, and for gaming only. It will be a three monitor setup most likely with the ASUS VG248QE. The graphics card would be the geforce gtx 970 (two of them), unless you guys have a better recommendation for it. I want to keep the pc under 1500, minus the monitors.

This would be what you're looking for:

I might go a little bit over budget on the mother board, so what could be another good pick for 50--100 more?

One step up:

Or go with a really decent Gigabyte board:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming GT ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($188.99 @ Newegg)

Honestly though, if it was my money and I was going to spend another 100 bucks on the build, I'd leave the board as is and go with an i7-4790k CPU which gives you four additional computing threads and 500mhz increase on the CPU base clock speed.

thanks that was a big help, I think I'll go with the cpu instead of the motherboard

Ok bud. Good luck. I think you'll be much happier that way. You'll get a noticeable overall computing performance gain that way whereas with a board upgrade over an already very decent board, you just get a few extra features that you may or may not ever even use.
