The pc that I am planning to buy has:

CASE: NZXT H230 MIDI TOWER WHITE

CPU: INTEL CORE i7 4770K(1150/3.5GHz/8MB)

CPU COOLER: CoolerMaster Seidon 120V RL-S12V-24PK-R1

GPU: EVGA GEFORCE GTX760 ACX SUPERCLOCKED 2GB GDDR5 PCI-E RETAIL

MoBo: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK 2

RAM: Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B VENGEANCE 8GB (2X4GB) 1600MHz

PSU: SEASONIC M12II-620W 80 PLUS BRONZE

SSD: SANDISK 64GB SDSSDP-064G-G25 SSD SATA III

Do you find any bottlenecks or is there anyway that I can reduce the cost?

I am using it for academic purposes and i am into photoshop, adobe premiere and generally into gpu energy consuming staff.

My current system that I am "rocking" the same programs has:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
2GB RAM @677Mhz
MSI GT620

With that being said, just to say that I can handle patience pretty well, do you have any suggestions for me or comments?

Thank you in advance :)

If it was me, I would go with the K version CPU and the Z97.
Even if you will not OC now, you have the possibility to get 10-20% more power from your CPU just by playing with the OC settings.
It`s not very easy to do, but if you`ll find yourself in need of some extra power at one point, you don`t need to go out and upgrade your PC for a while longer.

Can you get an i7 4790k? If not, you can also go for a Z87 mobo.
A GTX 770 or R9 280x would be better for gaming, but if the budget doesn`t allow it, it`s understandeable.
Can you go for a 120-128Gb SSD? Those 64GB will get filled very fast, and you also need 25% free space on it if you want the best performance.

All in all, it`s a nice build, but if you give us your budget and location, we might help you out more. Also, are you also going to do any gaming?

I also agree to get 4790k....or even withouth a "K" because in normal use( this includes photoshop...) u wont see much improvement if u overclock ( i use photoshop and premiere and vegas with my 4690k not overclocked and i can even play games on second monitor :) ). The hasewell refresh 4x90 cpus have better solved temperature issues that 4x70 had and that would improve on your cpus lifetime. and u dont need extreme z97 mobo ether :).

On GPU if u want to render videos faster get the best gpu u can afford, i have 280x and it renders in about 110-115% of the lenght of video, so if u are an professional "editor" u may want to invest a little more on gpu (btw photoshop uses CPU mostly) but if u can spend a 10-15 min more depending on the lenght of you videos i say get that or as Pr3di suggested 770 or 280x.

And finaly SSD MUST be larger because windows can easily "eat" space so 64Gb is a bit small....u 128Gb ssds are not that more expensive than 64gb ones and that would benefit u greatly

Im saying in from my experience, i have no problems what so ever i even have PH, DW and premiere CS6 installed on my ssd so these are my suggestions hope it helps :)

Hello and thanks for the advice.

I made the changes you suggested and the total cost dropped from 1010€ to 998€(CPU & SSD & GPU)

My budget is going to be 900-1000€, pretty low if you ask me for the needs that I have but that all I can afford now and my location is Greece so the cost of the products is also higher.

Thank you for you advice too.

As I said to my friend above I made the changes you both suggested on CPU, GPU and SSD and the total cost dropped. I am not professional editor ( I am an ichthyologist :p ) and I use PS,DW,Pr on my website, promotional videos and leaflets that I make for my company ( From 2008 I am using these programs just for the fun and the last 2 year I have a proper reason that I am using them.) ). That's why I want such a machine.

Ps. Also pretty educational reply I can say. I saw some benchmarks online too about the temperature thing.

That's the cost of each component separately in Greece.

For the same components in Amazon I got a total cost of 957€.

There are still a few things to talk about:
You switched the CPU to i7 4790k, but in this case the mobo should remain a Z97, even if a different model.
So: i7 4790k goes with Z97, and i7 4770K goes with Z87.

Regarding GPU: You went with an R9 280, but I recommended an R9 280X or GTX 770. Now don`t worry about this one, the R9 280(non-X) is still better than your initial GTX 760, so you can leave it like that.

And about the CPU cooler - are you planning to overclock? If you will NOT overclock, you`re wasting money on the cooler. You can get a Cooler Master 212 Evo for less money, and this will do a great job in keeping temps and noise low.

Look into this input, and get back to us, so we can get you the most out of your money.

Ok, I made the changes and the cost gone up to 1050€ with my previous mobo.

As for the GPU for the 280x the cost was 100€ more for the ASUS model and I don't think XFX and Club3D are as reliable as ASUS is in GPUs.

No, I don't think about overclocking.

If I go with the Asus Z97-P which is significantly cheaper (~60€) is it going to make a big difference in performance (even though I did not understand why the z87 wouldn't do the job [sorry I do not know much about mobo]) .

PS. One thing that I forgot to mention, I am going to do some decent gaming.

Well, if you are sure you will not overclock (at all), you`re wasting some money.
In this case, go for a i7 4790 (non-K) and an H97 motherboard. This should save you some money, and maybe you will be able to put it towards an R9 280X or GTX 770. Also, let me know if you have the Cooler Master 212 Evo available for you. If not, you can also use the default cooler that comes with the CPU since you will not OC, but it will be a bit louder that the CM 212 EVO.

As you said, stick with the known brands when it comes to the GPU. Since I`m not thinking about XFX and Club3D brands for myself, I cannot recommend them to someone else...

Let me know what you think about this.
If there`s any chance you will OC later on, stick with the i7 4790K and Z97 mobo.

Mate I really want to thank you for the time you spent for me to figure out what is the best case scenario for my new build. With that being said I will keep the build in my mind for possible purchase as it is now with the 4790k,evo 212 and r9 280 and the 128GB ssd and it really attracts me (even though i don't know why).

As for the changes you mentioned it will get the same total cost(-40€ [total : 1020€]) with the previous components but now with a r9 280x and the h97 mobo and 4790 (didn't remove the evo212 though).

So at this point and with the confidence that you know better than me in every single aspect of that kind of things, I want you to tell me what should I go for and where it will get me for video editing (just a little bit), lots and lots of photoshop and some gaming (far cry 4,crysis,COD advanced warfare).
