I have an account set up with No-IP with a '.ddns.net' hostname which I have set up on my router (BT HomeHub 3). I can use this address to access my NAS which I have port forwarded. However, I cannot ping 'xxxx.ddns.net' from an external network, but I can from the same network that the hostname is set up with.
What can I enable or disable to allow me to ping the address?

Your firewall will allow an internal (LAN) ping, but not an external (WAN) ping. The reason being is that it opens up your router to DoS and DDoS attacks.

I have the Home Hub 5, which allows me to create firewall policies based on specific services and port numbers. Ping uses the ICMP service, but like I said, if you open this up to the Internet it leaves your router and internal network at risk.

Ideally, you want to configure a firewall policy so that only specific IP addresses on the Internet are able to use the ICMP service.
