I have the M5A99X Evo R2.0 and Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz(2x4gb). The ram is showing up as 1333mhz.

What is the easiest way to make the ram work at 1600mhz? Do I simply change the ram frequency speed in the bios or do I also need to change the timing, voltage, etc?

Thanks.

1. Why do you want to run your RAM at 1666 MHz? The difference between 1600 and 1666 MHz is negligible, even in synthetic benchmarks, especially since you're likely going to have to lower your latencies and timings to achieve 1666.
2. To have your RAM run at its rated frequency, latencies, and timings, set the XMP profile in the bios.

Shoot, I edited that last post, but I guess it didn't stick.

To achieve your ideal RAM settings, you have to set DOCP. This will OC your CPU as well, so you'd have to set those settings back to normal.

Or you could set your RAM to 1600 MHz and set the timings and latencies to the values advertised for your RAM.

I recommend the second option.

Ok, so forgive me, I am a noob when it comes to memory. I would enter these values that were on Corsairs page.

SPD Latency
9-9-9-24
SPD Speed
1333MHz
SPD Voltage
1.5V
Speed Rating
PC3-12800 (1600MHz)
Tested Latency
9-9-9-24
Tested Speed
1600Mhz
Tested Voltage
1.5V

As of yet I have only changed the memory frequency in the bios to 1600mhz.

Thanks. I messed around with this. I tested just setting memory clock to 1600mhz and leaving all timing settings auto vs setting the timing manually. It benchmarked worse with the settings set manually. Now they are just back to auto. I assume I missed something.
