Hi,

I'm trying to use a Seagate Backup Plus Drive with my Mac. It was originally used with a Windows machine. It does have the Seagate Dashboard Installer.dmg file. When I try to install it, it gives me an "invalid checksum" error.

I've also opened it in Disk Utility and attempted to reformat it into the Mac OS Extended (journaled) format, but it says it could not unmount the disk. I cannot see that it has any opened files that would be causing this problem. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Solution
This probably is locked disk.

that's because you mentioned you originally used it in windows, so there was an installer for that,
i had a flash drive just like this one,

i don't think there is a way to format it as "Mac OS Extended"

but maybe you could try "MS-DOS (FAt)"

Hope that works buddy.

try to copy over the Seagate Dashboard Installer.dmg to your computer. Don't run it off the HD. If you want to use that Drive, you will need to format it to MAC format.

Use your "Disk utilities" in your Applications.
