Which Western Digital hdd is good for using for movie and music storage?

Solution
Hello, g335!

I believe that besides all other alternatives, you should look at WD Green as well.
It is designed specifically for your intended use & secondary storage solutions. It runs cool and quiet and offers massive capacities (up to 6TB). The WD Green HDD is rather reliable and you can also put it in an external enclosure and use it as a backup drive.
If you can't make up your mind, I suggest to compare all the WD internal storage solutions and decide for yourself what suits you best:

I'd get either a WD Red or a WD Black. I don't need the latter's speed, but its five-year warranty is confidence-inspiring. Compared to the hundreds of thousands or millions of drives that have been sold, my sample size (12?) is not statistically significant, however I have not yet had a WD Black drive fail in service.

For just storing files, size is more important than speed.
I picked up a 2TB Seagate external hard drive for $80 from Walmart.
Any brand will do the job, just try to stick with a brand that you have heard of.
