Before I start, I do not know if this is the correct area to ask for help with this, so if it is not, please tell me which area is more appropriate to put topics like this.

-1 computer
-2 hard drives.
-Hard drive 1/HD1 = 1TB
-Hard drive 2/HD2 = 500GB
-Windows Vista = HD1
-Windows 7 = HD2

I formatted HD2 and tried to boot up HD1, but it would not start.
So, I tried to reinstall Windows 7 on HD2.
I could not, so I removed HD1 and was able to reinstall Windows 7 on HD2.
I put HD1 back, and tried to boot into Windows Vista, but it would not load either OS.
I removed HD1, and Windows 7 loaded.
After, I put HD1 back again and tried to transfer all of the files on it to HD2, but it stopped transferring after a while, so I had to use Task Manager to close it and restart Windows Explorer.
I tried transferring again with a different folder, but, again, it stopped transferring.
After restarting Windows Explorer again, opening Windows Explorer (folders, computer, etc.) started to give an error message.
The remote procedure call failed and did not execute

I can still access files through Firefox's Downloads location browser in Tools, however.
I have been trying to transfer files using that to an external HD, and I am planning to just format both drives and reinstall Windows on them, but I was hoping that perhaps someone here knew something about this problem.

Solution
Okay, from your actions I think you are more accustomed to working with XP then Vista/7 and alot of your actions are BIG mistakes. You can't do alot of the actions you were, for example 'transfer' HD1 to HD2 - just wont' work. So we need to stop everything your doing and take a step back.

1) VISTA is not supported. You have files on the HD1 (Vista) and want to 'move' then to a Windows 7 image, well we need to take a different approach with the tools already provided. Simply WIPE the HD2 with a DBAN CD (best to UNPLUG HD1 when you do that to avoid mistaked) you can google DBAN. Pretty simple.
2) Boot to Vista (you can right? ) as the ONLY OS in the computer, format the 'HD2' then run Windows EASY Transfer from the START menu. It will...

2) Boot to Vista (you can right? ) as the ONLY OS in the computer, format the 'HD2' then run Windows EASY Transfer from the START menu. It will backup your DATA (you need to reinstall SOFTWARE - there is no work around for that), settings, even desktop to the HD2

CAVEAT: If your moving form Vista x32 to Windows 7 x64 this will NOT put everything back the same way and just cause Windows to 'dump' all your data to the My Documents folder ONLY. This is because x64 has a totally different 'filing' structure then x32 OSes.

3) Unplug HD2, run DBAN on HD1 and then do the clean install of Windows 7, apps, drivers, etc. to HD1 before you plug HD2 back in and run WET again in Windows 7 to restore data.

CAVEAT: Your actions were incorrect, but if the HD2 is a old old drive it may be failing too. So if you can't DBAN it OR your HD1 OR DBAN takes MANY MANY HOURS to wipe a drive, then the drive is FAILING, FYI.

4) I would suggest following my 'basics' before you WET restore:

Did you install all Windows Updates? Including OPTIONAL except BING? Check them and repeat till ALL are installed.

Download and run Slim Drivers, install all the latest updates but you don't need to reboot until you do the last update

Download Malwarebytes do a full system scan (AV doesn't pick up alot of malware) - this resolved almost ALL other similiar posts to date as most had Malware the AV didn't pick up.

Remove whatever AV your using and go to www.filehippo.com and download AVIRA, AVG, Comodo or Panda and do a full system scan - this repeatedly has resolved alot of people issue relying on MS Essentials.
Repeat the AV/Malware scans till the system comes up clean.

Download and run SPECCY, copy and paste the first tab to show your SPECS.

Thanks for the reply, but I ended up just moving the files that I could to an external HD and formatting the two HDs.
