I was wondering how much longer my CPU in my Laptop should last. It is 2 years 2 months with light to moderate use.
Here are my average temps-
42*C idle
51*C internet browsing
70*C under heavy load, like playing a lighter game such as minecraft.
I would like to hang on to this system and I just changed the HDD a few nights ago.
How much longer do you thing this system will hold out for?
(Only once in a blue moon that I play a game on it).

Solution
CPUs last a long long time, I have rarely heard of a CPU ever going bad. I have used many 10-year old CPUs just fine. Having a CPU die would likely be to heat if anything but those temperatures are fine. Trust me this will not die before it needs replacement because it's falling behind in performance compared to future newer models.

Thank you both for your answers, I will consider applying AS5 soon, but not immediatly, and I may even upgrade to a core i3 2370m, but I don't think I will need it for what I am using it for.

As long as you do no gaming your processor now is more than enough, an upgrade would be practically pointless for general purposes, you are perfectly fine :)
