Which CPU temp is the actual temp?

Which one is correct? why are they different?

Id guess the 31 C one.

26 C is only 78 F

Each core runs at its own temperatures.
When regarding CPU temps for posts, tests, or benchmarking, just pick the highest core temperature (as long as its close)

Hi,
Sensors->

1) HIGHEST TEMP - is located on the CPU itself

2) LOWEST TEMP - probably on the motherboard next to the CPU

3) Individual Core temperatures - next to each core on the CPU

*The ones you care about are the individual core temperatures, particularly the HIGHEST ONE. You want that to be below Tjmax or else the CPU will start throttling its frequency down to prevent overheating.

I understand what your saying, but in the screenshot, there are two different programs showing CPU temps, the black one is the software that came with my motherboard, the other is just a program I downloaded called "core temp". but they show two different readings, you'd think the one that came with my motherboard would me more accurate, but I do agree, seems low.

I've had this rig built for a few months now, I've done a few benchmarks, in linux and windows, played a few games, I dont have a gpu yet. but so far, the highest temp for any core I've had is about 49c. im sure it will rise a bit once i get a vid card

I guess I tunnel visioned, blue and black program on blue and black...
I would look at core temperatures, rather than overall CPU temp. It gives you a more exact idea of where you are at.

Update:

I think one of the sensors isn't being shown. So the one in the Asus program is probably the sensor on the motherboard, and the one not shown is probably the sensor on the CPU (aside from the individual core sensors).

Sorry for the confusion.

Your fine, and as you can see pretty far away from Tjmax which is 100degC.

I "think" thats just what that program is set at, maybe. I know i've read a few times that intel says the max is around 80c? and people say to try to stay around 70c

hmm ok, well if thats the case then i might just remove the software, theres no real need for it, there are some nice features in there, but most of what it can do i'd do in the bios anyway
