so recently my computer broke and i took it too the computer store to be fixed, but first i removed the hard drive so i could use it in another computer. but now when i put the hard drive in the other computer after displaying the windows 8 logo on start up it just goes black and before on my old computer no issue with windows or starting up (the problem there was to do with power supply) so is it that windows 8 is not compatible with this new computer? any help would be really appreciated.(the exact operating system on the hard drive is windows 8.1 64 bit)

Specs
not sure of the exact specifications but could figure them out if necessary although it does have a i3 processor and a gts 450 and on the old hard drive it was using windows 7.

So...you took the HDD out which originally had Windows 7. Then put Windows 8.1 on it and moved it back after the computer was fixed? Well that's your problem...the computer you installed Windows 8.1 had different hardware on it. When you install 8.1 on it, you changed enough of the files that it won't boot up connected to the old computer. Unless the old computer had almost the SAME exact hardware, most times it won't boot up if it was installed with different hardware.

you have it a bit wrong so when i took the hard drive out of the computer getting fixed it never worked with the computer i am trying to put it into. but i guess the problem you are talking about would affect this too yeah?
