Hi all,

I am looking to upgrade my graphic card of my Dell XPS Studio 8100 i7 6Gb RAM to a GeForce 780Ti (preferred). I know I will need to change my PSU.

Is there anyone who did this upgrade? Is it possible and working fine?
Any feedback you may have regarding this?

Thanks for your help,

R.

Hi,

Finally, I bought a EVGA GTX 970 SSC version. I can confirm it is working very fine with my 2009 Dell XPS 8100.
Obviously, I changed the PSU to a Corsair CX600M.

The size of the EVGA GTX 970 SSC is perfect and maximum: greater or larger may become a bit a problem as per the XPS 8100 tower.

Few recommendations:
- make sure you plug the 6 pins and 8 pins power connectors of the GPU. Out of my PSU, I have a 6+2 pins connectors that I connected on the 8pins in the GPU. Then, of the same rail of the PSU, I plug the remaining 6+2 connectors on the GPU's 6 connectors, letting free the 2 pins.
- I did not updated the Motherboard BIOS: it is still the default one.
- Out of the Motherboard, I removed the PSDIF output cable because I did not find an input in the GTX 970.

Hope this will help. I will update the thread if any news...
