Will the next Graphics cards be arriving anytime soon?

Hi!

I'm running 760 sli at the moment and I'm able to run most new games with high settings 1440p (no filtering) with occasional FPS drops.

Seems like a upgrade is required for smooth new gen 1440p gameplay. But I'm really not too impressed with the new 900 series since they seem to barely top the 780ti which came a long time ago.

So I'm wondering whether or not it's worth to stick it out and wait until the next graphics cards come out before upgrading? Is there any predictions when they will be arriving? There really doesn't seem to be that much information out there about this yet.

You could always SLi your 760, however your going to be waiting a long time for the next generation. The only projected (no confirmation as of yet, still a year or so off) is the 980ti which will be about 5% faster then the 980 or 15% faster if they crank the TDP back up to 180W vs the 165W the 980 has.

If your only impressed by horsepower and don't care for efficiency you really should go AMD. Nvidia has equaled or better performance, but comes with a higher price tag. But thats for a good reason, they run cooler, quieter, overclock better, have more consistant driver updates (and in most folks opinion they are more stable as well). The 980 uses 100 watts less then the 780TI yet it averages a minimum of 8% higher framerates, and due...
AMD is supposedly going to be releasing new cards within the next three months or so, but it's unknown how they will perform and if their flagship card will perform much better than the GTX 980. AMD might wind up in a similar situation as Nvidia right now where most of the improvements will be in efficiency, which admittedly AMD does need to improve on, as the Hawaii GPUs sucked down tons of power and ran insanely hot.

I think it will be another 3 years give or take until there is a major advance in GPU's as that will be about the time 4K really becomes a standard for more than just professional workers and enthusiast. That is if a new visual standard that betamaxes it (non-dpi based visual technologies) takes hold at a lower price point.
