Good day everyone,

I just endeavored my first build and for knowing what little I know, I think I've managed alright.

I just installed an ssd but am having issues setting it up. When I use Samsung Magician its telling me that ahci is deactivated. Firstly, what does that mean. Secondly, how do I fix it.

Any help would be awesome!

Specs:
CM Storm Scout
Gigabyte GA-G41MT-D3 mobo
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @2.4GHz
8GB DDR3 RAM
1TB HHD 7200rpm
120GB SSD
Radeon HD 6670 GPU (upgrading to Radeon R9 270X this week)

Solution
There are two typical modes for the drives on your PC, IDE and AHCI. This can be changed in the BIOS but it must be done before installing your OS.

You will get better performance with your SSD using AHCI but it's not like your computer will not work if it is not set up this way. You may or may not actually be able to see the effects of the difference when your going about your daily activities, probably just with benchmarking (I don't know for sure).
