My samsung monitor is S22D300. I connected to the laptop using an HDMI adapter because the laptop doesn't have a VGA port. After trying i got it working but now the same thing is happening again. The screen is blank even thought it's detected by the laptop. It must be a driver issue. What could i do?

I've had like 4 hdmi cables go bad on me though have you tried another hdmi cable? Sounds like a bad connection or short.

Not sure you'll probably have to try both hdmi would be my guess.
Have you right clicked the desktop went to screen resolution and selected your monitor as the default?

I doubt your vga cable is bad doesn't hurt to try if you have one laying around.
