Hello all,

I currently have a QX6850 + nVidia N680SLI mobo + 4 x 2GB DDRII.
This has been a reoccurring issue. Once in a while (quite a few times a week), my system will just stop - everything becomes irresponsive, cursor frozen, ctrl + alt + del wouldn't work. The only way was to press the power or reset button. Has anyone ever encountered similar problems?
Thanks for all your feedbacks!

Does it crash once it stops. Maybe it could be a problem with your GPU or CPU cooling. I've know of some motherboards that have safety precautions to save your system from literally cooking itself. What is your cpu cooler?

What do you mean by "crash"? I just stopped and froze, like pressing a pause button while watching a movie - and it would stay that way forever, unless I reset the system. I'm not sure what the CPU cooler is but it looks ginormous - an aftermarket cooler which my friend got. Also, I've been monitoring my temp quite frequently (using speedfan) and CPU never got over 57 while gaming (Witcher 2), GPU maxed at 65.

That's strange. The only other reason I'd see is that windows was corrupted on your hard drive, this has only happened to me once but there is a possibility. Have you re-installed windows.

This actually had been an issue for my friend before he gave the system to me. I'm using a different HDD and have re-installed the OS. Problem persists.
The issue is not so big that makes the computer unusable. It just happened frequently enough to be quite annoying; and frustrating since I could not pinpoint what is wrong!

Hmm. I'm not so convinced, since my friend had the same issue w this rig and a different video card.
