Trying to make things short here, I recently received a greeting from my laptop when coming back from work. "msdt.exe - Bad Image" As the title. Within the description It reads "C:
windows\system32\sdiageng.dll is either not designed to run on windows or contains an error. Now pissed, I've done my research on this. Seems to be a corrupted file within the registry. It makes my computer VERY VERY unresponsive and slow.

Now then I tried diffrent methods on trying to fix this issue, going to the cmd prompt and doing sfc/scannow 3-4 times, even in safe mode. Updated my windows to see if that would work. I've even tried to do a system restore but strange enough, My restore points are all Gone(Never created a Recovery Image also :( ). So Thats out the question. I even did a maleware scan and no viruses or infections. So I'm completelty at a lost now and see no other way but reinstalling Windows Premium.

My question is how exactly do I go about backing up my files on a blank DVD-RW Disk? I formated the disk and spent 5 hours clicking and dragging while it made these "Copies". Take out the disk and put it back in again only to find the disk STILL BLANK. Did I do something wrong?

After you were done dragging and coping all the files to the dvd-rw did you "commit" the files to disk? Usually an icon next to the time. Did you ever make a System Image of your drive? Windows may have done it for you. Check Control Panel > Backup and Restore > Manage Free Space. Following the paths in there somewhere may lead you to .img file.
