Hi All,

I have build a new PC with an AMD processor and Gigabyte motherboard. I have connected all the components properly with the best of my knowledge.
I put my windows 7 disc into my DVD ROM and booted up my PC and got the message "Reboot and select proper boot device".

Steps taken:-
Boot priority has been set the boot order to boot to the DVD drive first.

I am a beginner would require some assistance.

Solution
Is the SATA mode set to AHCI or IDE in the BIOS? Try changing it and see if that helps

ALso, if you have 3GB and 6GB ata connections, try plugging the CD/DVD into the 3GB header instead

Only if the OS is installed (I got the impression that no OS is installed as yet) - unless it's trying to boot from the HDD, can't find the OS so is saying to Boot from a different device...

Sebastiankur - have you got the CD/DVD selected as the 1st boot device?

Yes CD/DVD has been selected as the 1st boot device and No OS has been installed this is the first. Apart from that I have only One Hard drive installed on My PC.

I hope you dont mind but where am I suppossed to chk the SATA mode set to AHCI or IDE in the BIOS ?
