R9 295X2 Memory Clock Speed ALWAYS Max?

My clock speed sts at 150Mhz idle but when I play a video or switch between tabs it sits at 1250Mhz 100% of the time until I stop video playback.

I have no issues other than that but I don't see why it would jump so high on a simple task.

Well, it is the same for me, it just jumped to 1250MHz when I started the YouTube video at 1080p. 150Mhz at idle, so it's not just you if that's what you are worrying about :)

But yeah, I'd get a...

hmm, where do you check the MHz, give me a Youtube video and let me see if mine does it too. Also what resolution do you play/watch stuff at?

I use GPU-Z and AMD Catalyst, both show same results.
It's all youtube video's i have the issue with. I tried a really low grade game such as Minecraft and same issues. Full clock 100% of the time.

Currently on a 1080p 27inch 60HZ TV monitor while waiting for an upgrade.

I though my PSU could be to blame as I only have a 750w with a 64amp rail at the moment until my more powerful PSU is delivered next month but I do doubt that.

Resolution is 1360 x 768 which should be nothing for this card.. I think It may be a AMD driver issue.

But yeah, I'd get a higher quality PSU with more watts for that GPU, just to be on the safe side.

Ah makes me feel alot better and your PSU is very capable so dont feel as bad! Im guessing driver issue is to blame.. Yep, I am keeping it idle and no gaming until I upgrade. But it's nice to get it in the rig for now. Runs smoothly and stable okay for now. Very excited to get a good PSU and open it up... :D

If you look at the person who started the thread, he has a phantom 410 mid tower case and yes I am talking about mounting the radiator to the top of the case next to the 140 mm fan, thanks for any replies.

Well, I don't have that case, but I do have a Phantom series case and I have just looked at your case specs. Why not put the radiator on the rear of the case and just remove the fan that's on the rear to else where? That's usually where people put a radiator and is easier, the radiator is 120mm, so it would work.

Well considering I have a cpu liquid cooling mounted to the back, would it be possible to add to the top case mount since it is a 120 mm mount?

Oh, I see. Well, you can try to fit it. I think it would be easier to have CPU radiators on top and GPU radiators on rrar, since the CPU is already on top, you can just pretty much turn the tube around and mount it there. Instead of having the tubes crossing paths with each other, so if you could, you could try to replace the CPU radiator to the top and see if it fits. Then you it would be easier just put your GPU radiator on the rear instead of trying to get it pass some tubes and possibly accidently get them loose.

Well I see what your saying but I have an asetek 510 lc liquid cpu cooler and it's pretty dang big (the radiator) so I could try your idea, but I would rather not move anything around since my pc is a pre built sadly, I have been wondering what are the dimensions of the r9 295x2s radiator like length, width, and height with the fan, this would help me a lot. Thanks!

Well, I don't have a measuring tape with me right now, but I should be able to get one in a few hours though. I tried to ask Asus and AMD the same question, and of course "We don't have that information", lol. Of course they don't have information on a product that they built :) Also, replacing the fan/radiators are very easy, just keep them still at the spot you want them and screw them on and that's it. Just keep in mind to keep yourself grounded, it is very important! Also, if you look at the sides of the fan, there will be an arrow that tells you which way the air will be blowing to determine intake or outtake. So make sure the rear fan is outtake to keep a proper airflow, so make sure the arrow is pointing toward outside the case. Let's say you are looking at the left side of the case if you are sitting right in front of your PC. That's side you'll be looking from, and just make sure the arrow points toward the left/the outside. If you want more details, you could watch a short video.

Edit: But before any of this, you have made sure that your other parts are sufficient enough to handle the 295x2? Like does your motherboard support crossfire, and does your PSU have enough power for it, does it have the right connectors for it.

My motherboard supports crossfire x16 and x4 and if I buy this card I will be upgrading to a 1000 watt psu, I would still like to have the dimensions for the radiator, that would help a lot, but I will give the radiator switching around idea a try, thanks for all the input!!!

Okay, great, if you want PSU recommendations, I think you should go with this one. I pretty much have the same one except for I have 1600w and is platinum. $110 for 1000w is not a bad deal at all, unlike Corsair that charges like $200 for a 860w PSU and Evga can have a 1300w PSU for $150.

I'll do the measurements as soon as I can get my hands on a measuring tape.

ok just to make sure, will the r9295x2 be able to run on an fx 8320 at 4.4ghz? just wondering lol, also is it worth the upgrade from a r9 280x considering the 295x2 is for sure DX12 compatible?

You should be fine with that CPU at that high of frequency. Well, it depends if you are planning to move up to higher resolutions. The 295x2 is pretty much built for 4k, but still not really enough. I'm not sure how the 295x2 do in 1080p (If that's what you are playing at), some people says it is good, some other people says it is not good, so I'm not sure and I have never tried, always been with 4k.

I have finally got my hands on a measuring tape, the measurements of the radiator of the 295x2 is 152.4mm(L) x 117.5mm(W) x 35mm(H).

Thanks man, I couldn't remove my cpu cooler with out needing new thermal past so I just left it but it will defiantly fit in my case thanks for the help

I'm not sure what it has to do with the thermal paste, but if I confused you. I meant by just moving the CPU cooler's radiator to the top, not moving the cooler that's on top of the CPU. Unless that's what you meant and I'm just the one that's confused, lol.

I would have to because the cable management done is soo tight on the fan cables that I could not get a siccers or knife in the cable tie

Oh, okay then, that explains it. Well, good luck to you then, hope everything works out :)
