Hi guys. Recently I got my PC prebuilt from hardwareversand and everything was great, except they couldnt mount any 3rd party cooler. So I decided I dont want to fry my i7 4790k and bought CM Hyper 212 Evo.

I tried installing today and to my surprise the motherboard LED stays off when all is installed properly. PC wont even get power.

I removed the fan - Mobo still looks dead. (Mobo is Asrock Z97 Extreme4). Tried other power cables and sockets with no luck.

Few hours later I randomly tried turning on the PC without a fan and it worked! Mobo light worked too.

Decided to plug only stock cooler - Mobo dead again. Few minutes later worked again.

It looks like when Im moving the case it randomly works sometimes when I power it on. It feels like something is stuck in the case but I checked all wires and stuff.

Now I put the CM, cant turn on again.

I also cleared the CMOS.

My PSU is be quiet! 630w

I spent hours searching in the net and found nothing useful, so you guys are my last hope.

Hope this sounds familiar to someone as Im worried alot.

will the mobo power up outside the case? sounds to me like it is shorting out against the case. when this happens to me, i always try to power it up outside the case to see if it is a short.

the fact that moving the case around causes it to die, also leads me in this direction. so my first test is to power it up sitting on something outside the box. a piece of cardboard is fine or something non-metal.

it is also possible that the backplate for the cooler is connecting something on the mobo to the case as well and it needs to be insulated. this would be my second try for attempting to fix it.

check the shorting first though just to see. easiest solution is the best one to try first :)

I was able to install Hyper 212 EVO again, and while it worked I decided to put back the case and try my monitor. Then moved it back to my room and same story again. Now 20 mins later without touching it at all I'm actually running it fine and was able to start it! Will not be shutting it down anytime soon, because I still don't know what is the problem.

I haven't tried to power it on without case, simply because it's too much to remember all the wires and stuff.

It's definitely not the heatsink, I touched and moved it without success.
Hope to find the reason of shortage.
