First off, I was thinking of getting a great pair of gaming headsets (Sennheiser g4me One). But I'm also thinking of getting a new graphics card, which I'm having trouble with. Im thinking of getting a Geforce Gtx 970, or a 960. The 960s are really cheap compared to the 970s, so I'm not sure what to get.

My specs as of now:
Amd FX 6300
Radeon r7 265
8 gb ram
600 watt PSU

Solution
I would get a Gtx 970. It's not THAT much for a better upgrade in the long run. I would make sure your PSU can handle it though. Any Gold rated 600w+ should be fine though. My personal opinion.

You have a good CPU for the GTX 960, but you shouldn't get the GTX 970 because the hardware is unoptimized(I hate the word bottlnecking) for a GPU this powerful.
However, if you can skip the gaming headset, you could get a better CPU and an even better GPU, since I know this headset costs a LOT. Though, if you can get an r9 280x at the same price, go with it: according to benchmarks(and personnal experience with the r9 280x vs r9 285, which is similar to 960), the r9 280x beats it in near every single test(except power consumption), because of the higher bandwidth and memory.

My recommandation: Get the 960 if you inted to stay with your CPU(you have a good CPU :D), or just fully skip the headset(get a cheaper one, go to TekSyndicate for more details) get a better CPU(Intel Core i5/AMD FX-83xx series if you stay with your motherboard) and a better GPU(GTX 970).

Radeon R9 290 or 290x is a good card that'll eat nearly anything out there for a bit cheaper than the GTX's.
It's still right up there with the benchmarks as seen on the reprt here: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-5.html

Personally I think the 290 (not the x) is still an amazing card. My mta ehas the GTX 970 and he might beat me by 4-5fps...totally not worth the extra $$$ in my opinion.
The 290x however > 970.

Actually, because he has an 600W PSU, a r9 290 would be a bit too much for it.
Also, there are two advantages and two disadavantages for the GTX 970 vs r9 290:
1A. Much better efficiency and consumption.
2A. Better performance at 1080p and 1/3 games at 1440p.

Now let's move on to the disadavantages, which are kind of big for the GTX 970:
1DA. Less performance than the r9 290 at higher resolutions because of much lower bandwitdh.
2DA. BECAUSE of the much reduced bandwitdh of the 900 series, it's actually worse than the 700 series in rendering, and much much worse than the Radeon series because of extremely bad software compatibility of newer series. And costs more than the r9 290 :(

All in all, the GTX 970 and the r9 290 are pretty similar, one having much lower power consumption and better performance at 1080p, the other having better performance at higher resolutions, and massive rendering power(three times real speed). Just make sure the PSU can handle the cheaper r9 290.
