When I play FPS games my ping in good, if i'm home alone. When I am playing CSGO on a server that I am supposed to have 30-40 ping and my family is home, my ping raised up to 900 at times because they are all connected to the internet.

I recently upgraded my router in the past few days to a Netgear N900 WNDR4500 from a horrible router to old to name :p. But my modem is somewhat old, it is a Motorola SBV5220 Cable Modem. My router has the most recent firmware, but i'm pretty sure I do with the modem aswell.

The ethernet cables I am using are very old aswell. Do you think it need upgrades on the ethernet cables? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am unable to play games till this is fixed :D

Two things you can do.
1. Increase your internet speed.
2. Check your router settings for QoS (quality of service), setting these correctly can help optimize traffic through your router.
Something like this.
