I started having problems after I updated my windows from 8 to 8.1. The update didn't go smoothly as I got numerous blue screens of death. I finally was able to start my computer properly (it's in Windows 8.1 now) but now I'm having issues with my video card. And I get this pop-up message every time I start my PC:

After updating my Windows to 8.1 I used to be able to see the video card in the device manager but it had an exclamation mark on it. I tried downloading the latest driver from both GeForce Experience and I also tried looking for the driver manually through the NVIDIA website and every time I try installing the latest driver (with a custom clean install), in the middle of the installation, I get a blue screen of death:

and sometimes

And now ever since I can't see the video card in the device manager I get this pop-up message whenever I restart my PC:

Any ideas about what may be happening? I would really appreciate any help I can get. Thanks in advanced!

Have you tried reinstalling the driver using Display Driver Uninstaller? If not download it then use it in Windows Safemode, it will remove all nvidia files and registry entries and it will restart your machine afterwords. Then you install the new driver. If you have already done this I would try an earlier driver.

Thanks for the response. So I downloaded DDU and removed all NVIDIA files in safe mode. After the PC restarted again, I downloaded GeForce Experience and downloaded the latest driver and it was successfully installed. Now I can see the graphics card in the device manager again but it still has a problem (code 43).

Before I ever tried using DDU, I tried downloading earlier versions of the driver (The lastest version is 347.25) and I tried installing versions 347.09 and 344.75. Version 344.75 worked and installed properly and completely but I still had the same problem I have now. I can see the graphics card in the device manager but it has a problem (code 43) just like now.

Any other ideas? Thanks again!
