will a dvi to hdmi converter work for a dual monitor setup

i recently got a hdmi to vga cable for my dual monitor setup and i soon discovered that hdmi to vga doesn't work, i did notice however that one of my monitors have a dvi port too, so i was wondering if a hdmi to dvi cable would work for a monitor connection, i figured it would be better to ask then to go blindly ordering something again

your problem is the graphics card can only output one analog signal (that's the vga). if you use a hdmi to dvi for the other one it's gonna work fine as that's digital and the card can output plenty of those.

edit: of course, if you share with us the model of the graphics card and or the monitors we'd be able to give you a more certain answer
