At the moment, I have a weak graphics card, and I would like to upgrade that. I've been searching around for a while now, and I think I've found the GPU I want: http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-256bit-Graphics-04G-P4-2972-KR/dp/B00NVODXME

I just need to know if I can use that gpu with my current motherboard, and if I'd need to upgrade my PSU.

Motherboard - MSI 760gm-p23
CPU - AMD FX-4300 Quad Core
PSU - 500w 12v, not sure the brand
RAM - 2x4gb corsair cards

Also, any recommendations for other gpu's would be nice.

That cpu would bottleneck a 970 but otherwise it would work fine as long as it would fit in your case and your power supply could support it. 500w is enough power with the right psu but we would need to know which PSU it was (make & model#) to know if it could adequately run it.
