Hi, I have recently setup an HTPC but the Timeshifting & general Movie storage folders are not accessible on my home network.

I have network passwords turned off (Private & Public).
For some reason when I right-click on the folder and choose properties: the 'Share' button is unaccessible, but 'Advanced Sharing' is available. I can select sharing and give the share a name. I also set permissions to full control (do that in security as well).
I have made sure WorkGroup is the same. I have also been into 'Local Policies' and fiddled with some policies (as per guide: http://www.tannerwilliamson.com/windows-7-seven-network-file-sharing-fix-samba-smb/394/) but this didn't work and I have reset them back again.
My Win8 laptop is able to see the shares but constantly gets permission denied error.
Any help would be appreciated!

Hi there
Did you share those folders by giving Everyone full control access?
If so, you need to go to advanced, then click the edit button and add the guest user with those same permissions.
Enable your guest account and you should be good to go after a restart.

Hi Petrossa

Unfortunately I now have 'Everyone' & 'Guest' enabled with 'Full Control' permissions in both and still I am getting an error on my Win8 machine. I haven't restarted that machine ... so maybe there is a cache issue?

Update: restart did not help! Is there anyway to reset all the settings?
