What are the odds of something going horribly wrong on my first PC build? (assuming i'm not overly stupid)

Assuming you are smarter than a 5th grader, and follow the instructions.....very, very small.

Seriously. I taught a 10 year old to do it a few weeks ago.
Take your time, read the manuals, follow the directions and whichever tutorials you like, and don't drop anything.

I know someone so paranoid about building a computer that he stood naked in a tub of water, but honestly its not that serious. The only time I had something go horribly wrong was when I was like 15 building a AMD K6-2 system in the mid to late 90s and did it laying on the carpet, lol. Don't do that! I had to send my motherboard back for replacement and I was fortunate enough they replaced it for my carelessness.

it's litterally explained step by step in the motherboards user manual. it's lego for adults! except for the facts that you cant realy connect anything so horribly wrong it will break something. relax and have fun with it. handle it with care, dont be sloppy and you'll be just fine!
