If something is compatible with Windows 8, is it compatible with windows 8.1?

I'm talking about not upgrading from 8 to 8.1. (There's a Windows compatibility software for that) (I think)

Solution

That router will work with 8 or 8.1. Or 7.
(But you really need to upgrade to 8.1)

Yes, its just another drive.
It will work.

Personally, I think you have the whole drive situation wrong...but it's your PC. Go with it.

If you want to go into depth on an optimal config, we can do that.

What drives do you have or are thinking of getting?

OK then.

1 internal. OS, applications, data
1 external. Backup for data. Or primary for data. Either way.

Yes, there are external SSD's.
Doesn't change my original suggestion.

How do you move the OS and all the data onto another drive.
Do you copy EVERYTHING on one drive and put it in another drive?
And then you erase everything from the first drive and use the second drive as the first one?

No, you don't just 'copy' it. Won't work.
There are multiple migration tools that will do this.
CloneZilla, DriveimageXML, Samsung includes one with their drives, Acronis True Image, Easus Todo....

My 'almost always' recommendation is, however, a clean install on a new SSD.
