Compatibility With Windows 8 & 8.1

If something is compatible with Windows 8, is it compatible with windows 8.1?

I'm talking about not upgrading from 8 to 8.1. (There's a Windows compatibility software for that) (I think)

Yeah I think that too, the drives are what confuse me (And power buttons on cases).

But I'm trying to understand it more.

I just want 2 drives, 1 External and 1 Internal. (Hard Disk Drives or just Hard Drives and some SSDs in the future)
And I'm very confused on optimal configuration, don't go in depth.

An SSD should be internal, and it should be the OS and application drive.

There are external SSDs in the market.
It might be a pain to transfer the OS onto the SSD if I do get one.

I am going to switch to a mobile device so you might get sudden answers.

How do you move the OS and all the data onto another drive.
Do you copy EVERYTHING on one drive and put it in another drive?
And then you erase everything from the first drive and use the second drive as the first one?

No, you don't just 'copy' it. Won't work.
There are multiple migration tools that will do this.
CloneZilla, DriveimageXML, Samsung includes one with their drives, Acronis True Image, Easus Todo....

My 'almost always' recommendation is, however, a clean install on a new SSD.

To have the OS on a new drive, you have 2 options:

1. Migration with one of the tools listed above
2. Clean install, and later, wipe the old drive.
