My Asus MB's M.2 slot runs at PCIe 2.0 x2.
I want my Samsung XP941 to be the boot drive and run at its potential of x4.
Does anyone know of a PCIe 2.0/3.0 x4 Adapter card for my M.2 drive (M key), that supports connectivity & the booting of my drive?
The 2 x PCIe adapter cards I have found, BPlus M2P4A and Lycom DT-120 (PCIe 3.0x4) claim not to support booting.

Actually it may be possible to boot from either one of those cards. We've found that a lot of X99 based motherboards will allow it. Since the DT-120 is relatively cheap, that's the one to try it on.

mine is a Z97, ASRock Extreme6/ac

i just installed my M.2 xp941 on the addonics card - that part was a breeze. getting the drive to boot or accept windows 7 x64 was another story but i did get it installed

difference in speed - in the m.2 socket with only 2 PCIe lanes (ie "x2", 770 MB/s read, 560 MB/s write
in the addonics card in a "x4" PCIe slot, 1203 MB/s read, 835 MB/s write

and with the addonics card, i regained use of the two sata ports the M.2 socket kills

Do you know if a z87 mobo supports booting with the addonics adapter? I bought 2 xp941 for 200 usd... I want to use them, my asus z97-deluxe now has 700mbps, I ordered the addonics card to upgrade to 1.2gb, I want to use the other with a z97i-deluxe.

It definitely wont boot in the adapter on a z87 board unless you manually hack the BIOS. It will work fine as secondary storage though.
