Will one 6 pin connector be enough for the evga nvidia gtx 960 8 pin slot?

Hey guys,

I have a cooler master 460W power supply and it only comes with one 6 slot pin for pcie. I have been waiting to get my hands on the gtx 960 and I saw the product specifications of EVGA gtx 960 SuperSC ACX 2.0. In the product specifications, I saw that it came with an 8pin to two 6 pin pcie adapters. Will I need two 6 pin connectors or is one just fine?

Thanks

I think you need to get a new power supply unless you can find a card with just one 6 pin connector.

They need at least 120W. Usually they can get 75W from the pcie slot and another 75W from a 6 pin connector. But look like most of the factory OC are going either an 8 pin or 2 x 6pin connectors - for built in safety factor. Which means you'll need a 500+W PSU.

I know this thread is old. Yes I also have the problem. I can only connect using a 6 pin to the GTX 960 SSC. But my power supply is 600W, I'm guessing it's good enough? As said above, it should work if the PCI supplies 75W and the 6 pin supplies another 75W. So would this work for me? (Dont tell me to buy an adapter)

600 W is good enough. You just need the right connectors from your PSU. I ended up upgrading to a 650 W PSU and I'm saving for a r9 390. The gtx 960 was just not worth it for me.
