iPhone & Android connect, Windows will not

Hello all,

I have a user who is unable to connect to her home WiFi. Her iPad, and Android phone all connect fine. Her roommates phone and tablet as well. Neither her nor here roommate are able to connect windows based machines to the router. On her work laptop it asks for a certificate and on her personal computer it asks for a user name and password not the typical passkey. I had her enter the routers default log-in which failed.

The fun part is she is using her landlords wireless and lives several states away. The landlord has a MAC and is of course able to connect. I have told her the best course of action would be resetting the router or contacting the provider for assistance in setting up the router correctly. It still bugs me though.

Why can any Android or iOS device connect but not windows? This is a Qwest Q1000 router. Unfortunately I have little technical information to go on, but it still seems odd that only a Windows based machine can't connect. Any help is greatly appreciated!

What kind of authentication are the laptops set up for? What kind of authentication is the router set up for? Do they match?

The laptop asking for a certificate sounds like it might think the network is 802.1x w/ EAP-TLS or similar, and the one asking for a password might be 802.1x w/ EAP-PEAP or similar.

Try removing the network from the laptops and re-adding them, specifying the authentication type so that it matches the router.

Thanks, DeauteratedDog.

Unfortunately neither of the laptops have stored the connection unless manually created because they never actually connect. When manually created the security type was set to WPA-PSK-Personal, and she entered the provided passkey but it did not connect. I did update the certificates of the company laptop this morning and asked the user to inform if successful. The thing that sticks out most to me is Android and iOS devices connect fine, just not Windows.

Thanks again for the help, if you can think of anything else please let me know!
